gsCommunity brings together Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, Alums, and Volunteers across Northern California in a dedicated digital space
to collaborate on topics of mutual interest, share stories of success, find support by connecting with and learning from subject matter experts,
so that you are better prepared to lead and grow.
gsCommunity is for GSNorcal created by volunteers for volunteers and Older Girl Scouts (13 and older).
There are More Ways for You to Meet Each Other. Connect with members geographically close to you, are currently online, or share your interests.
It's Mobile-first and Virtual-first. You get discussions, activities, event listings and access to spaces for service units and Older Girl Scouts. When you meet in-person in your area, you'll have gsCommunity knowledge in your pocket, making it much easier to be a volunteer.
New and existing Girl Scout volunteers, service unit team members, older Girl Scouts, alums get the support of their peers and resources to help build a better Girl Scout experience.
Cadette, Senior and Ambassadors give service to Girl Scouts in a variety of ways. Through their service, such as creating virtual badge kits, they earn the Service to Girl Scouting Bar or the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. They can also pursue Higher Awards and find a supportive network of volunteers that want to help.
Experienced adult volunteers, service unit team members and Girl Scout alums can network with their peers who are doing troop travel and supporting girls with Higher Awards. They can give service by creating virtual badge and skill kits and by sharing their expertise with new volunteers and older girls.
We’re aiming to make your experience here awesome. We want you to get four key things from gsCommunity:
Be supportive. Encourage and support your fellow members. No one here is looking for your criticism, cynicism, advice, or judgement. (We can get those things on the rest of the Internet).
Share generously. Your stories and experiences may be exactly what another member needs to hear today to solve a problem or seize an opportunity.
Be constructive. We’re here to push each other forward and lift each other up. Find ways to help each other think bigger, reframe challenges, and stay curious.
Don’t spam, promote, or troll. This community exists to help you learn. It’s not a place to spam, promote your services, or bully anyone else.
Girl Scouts is a safe place. We listen to each other and we always stand up against hate.
Digital communities help achieve common goals and feel less isolated. This is incredibly valuable when we are going through the COVID-19 pandemic and can feel alone.
While promising work has been made on COVID-19 vaccines, it might be much longer before we are back to meeting in-person. And Adult volunteers and C/S/A girls may prefer to continue virtually and in-person, in a hybrid model, that better works with all of the activities and work that they have.
Facebook provides quick contacts to people without the ability to form more deeper, engaging and meaningful connections. gsCommunity, with its platform dedicated to only GSNorCal members and concentrated on Girl Scout related conversations, brings together activities, members, posts, questions/polls, articles, events and private groups - all in one place.
There is a place for every GSNorCal member in gsCommunity.
As a new troop volunteer, get help from more experienced members.
If you are a service unit team member, you can connect with all GSNorCal team members in a dedicated space.
If you are a Cadette, Senior or Ambassador Girl Scout or volunteer, join the Older Girl Scouts' Space to connect and receive support from your peers.
