About gsCommunity

Big Purpose

gsCommunity brings together Girl Scouts, Alums, and Volunteers across Northern California in a dedicated digital space to collaborate on topics of mutual interest, share stories of success, find support by connecting with and learning from subject matter experts, so that we are better prepared to lead and grow.

Who should join gsCommunity?

New and experienced Girl Scout volunteers, service unit team members, alums, Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts (with parental consent) can connect with their peers pursuing a similar Girl Scout trajectory, share their knowledge and experience to improve the experience of gsCommunity members.

Cadette, Senior and Ambassadors, for the first time, will have their own digital networking space. gsCommunity will make connection with subject matter experts easy and also has a support structure in place for our Highest Awards Girl Scouts.

What You Should Expect from gsCommunity?

We’re aiming to make your experience here awesome. We want you to get four key things from gsCommunity:

  1. Actively participate by swapping stories, experiences, and ideas around our shared mission.
  2. Get and share virtual toolkits on how to lead STEM, outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship badges, as well as other skills.
  3. Create a dedicate space for your service unit - for a seamless, one-stop connection and communication experience.
  4. Spread the word about gsCommunity and its added benefits of support for your Highest Award Girl Scouts, Older Girl Scouts, service unit team members. More special interest spaces coming soon to gsCommunity!

gsCommunity Guidelines

Be supportive. Encourage and support your fellow members. No one here is looking for your criticism, cynicism, advice, or judgement. (We can get those things on the rest of the Internet).

Share generously. Your stories and experiences may be exactly what another member needs to hear today to solve a problem or seize an opportunity.

Be constructive. We’re here to push each other forward and lift each other up. Find ways to help each other think bigger, reframe challenges, and stay curious.

Girl Scouts is a safe place. We listen to each other and we always stand up against hate.

Don’t spam, promote, or troll. This community exists to help you learn. It’s not a place to spam, promote your services, or bully anyone else.

*Any member who does not follow the community guidelines will be removed from the app.

Why now?

Digital communities help achieve common goals, feel less isolated and add incredibly value, especially in the post-pandemic times.

Why not just use Facebook?

Facebook provides quick contacts to people without the ability to form more deeper, engaging and meaningful connections. gsCommunity, with its platform dedicated to only GSNorCal members and concentrated on Girl Scout related conversations, brings together activities, members, posts, questions/polls, articles, events and private groups - all in one place.

What can you do in gsCommunity?

There is a place for every GSNorCal member in gsCommunity.

As a new troop volunteer, get help from more experienced members.

If you are a service unit team member, you can connect with all GSNorCal team members in a dedicated space.

If you are a Cadette, Senior or Ambassador Girl Scout or volunteer, join the Older Girl Scouts' Space to connect and receive support from your peers.

gsCommunity is a social networking platform created by GSNorCal volunteers for all GSNorCal members, including our Junior, Cadette, Senior, Ambassador and young alum Girl Scouts!
